Hi Guys

I have a problem. I use DesktopX to remove desktop icon's for a clear workspace. I create a new desktop, select hide windows icons select wallpaper none and save the desktop; this allows me to alter the wallpaper at will eg, find wall, set as desktop background.

This used to work on my old XP machine no probs, but now on my new Vista (home premium) comp when I apply the blank DesktopX desktop the screen shows a single color for the background, this also happens when I set as desktop background from explorer. I have tried unloading DesktopX and wallpapers apply from explorer properly. I have also applied walls from windowblinds the wall applies but when DestopX loads I get the same single colour background.

Any ideas please

I have been having this same issue. As a DX tester,it's a problem as most I have to test come to me with the "Hide Icons" option checked. The only fix I have found is to not have DX hide the icons.I just hide them manually.Hopefully this will be addressed at some time with an update.

Probably just a silly question so please don't laugh at me, but couldn't you use "Fences" to do that?

please don't laugh at me,

Aw c'mon.... some of the best laughs I've had on this site have been at your expen.... er, because you're such a funny guy.

But yeah, JoneP, Fences would hide your desktop icons nicely for you, and double clicking on the desktop brings them back when needed.  It's a great app and well worth a try.... available via Impulse if you're interested.

Have to agree with DrJBHL and starkers, if it's deskop icons you need to manage/organize, Fences is the way to go.

I have one icon one my desktop, the recycle bin. Only when I move something/dl to the desktop,do I need to unhide them.

I agree with Starkers,Philly and Doc,though. You may want to give Fences a look.

Everything I need is on OD+ and/or a DXTheme. No need for fences when you live on an island.

Thanks for the replies I haven't got round to installing fences yet but I'll give it a whirl.

I have always had everything on OD+ when I need the desktop I open its folder, but doubleclick on desktop sounds cool also

Many Thanks for your help
